Discover your creativity with my art classes in Vancouver! I offer drawing and painting classes for all levels, from beginners to advanced artists. You can start your art journey, explore new techniques, build your confidence, and enjoy the process of making art. All group lessons are taking place in Vancouver. Try figure drawing classes, urban sketching or acrylic courses. Each class includes hands-on experience and personalized guidance to help you improve your art skills. Though I love teaching, I’m also a practicing artist, so I have limited time slots available. That means there are only a few seats in group classes, and even fewer in private lessons. Please follow the registration opening day. You’ll need to book in advance — sorry about that.

"Your growth is my priority as your success is my case as an Art Educator.
So whether your goal is "drawing for myself" or becoming better in your industry, I'm interested in growing students to the highest level possible. The longer you are taking my art classes, the better I know your mindset, giving me more room to mentor your artistic development - something I am doing in the one-on-one mentorship sessions. I’ll also keep your goals in mind when preparing tasks for the group art classes in Vancouver, ensuring they align with your progress.
Often, students come with random information they got from different sources throughout their lives. I have a well-structured approach and very specific tasks for each theme. If you're serious about growing quickly and effectively, I recommend not missing classes, even if the themes overlap with what you already learned. You'll get a deeper understanding of the topic and additional tasks from me.
With this said, the are non-academic classes. I do lots of fun, creative exercises during the process. So, you can grow and enjoy art practice. As I get to know my students' goals and skills better, I provide tailored recommendations for the specific areas where they are struggling (both in art and mentoring). I’ll point out the repetitive mistakes that are stopping your artistic development, the topics you need to work on, and when it's time.
Examples: There are no two cases that are the same! Some of the students need the absolute base, others to speed up or creative expanding exercises, and the third once need to train proportions or specific theoretical knowledge.
40% of my students who comes with no idea where to start, and I give strong step-by-step instructions to make the beginning stress-free;
40% are continuing students, often creative professionals who want to develop drawing skills or their personal style;
15% are my best continuing students who grew with me significantly, some of them are already building a portfolio, exhibiting, and got accepted to the university art programs, others enjoy the process of creating on their own pace with their new skill set;
5% of my art teaching practice is the rare cases that I am specifically proud of. For example, some students who felt almost colour-blind at first now match colours confidently; others struggled with proportions, and I gave them the methods to work on it; there are students who are childishly creative, and I help shape this creativity into a working style without suppressing it.
I adore my students! They bring me so much joy and inspiration.
Warm,
Ania Salmina
