Urban Sketching

Ania's classes are great, especially if you go week after week. She builds on lessons, but you always get a refresher on old topics and theory because there's always a mix of returning and new students. She can look at your page and tell you exactly what needs to be improved, what to lean into, and is just very good at direct and honest feedback, which I find extremely refreshing. These classes are a highlight of my week and I greatly enjoy them. It's amazing how much one can improve their drawing by practicing every week.

What I enjoy the most about the classes is the hands on approach where we are able to tackle a perspective on our own while Anya moves around offering us feedback. I also like the initial indications and tips for what we are drawing, and the length of 1.5 hours (it's not very long but also not short either!)

Level of expertise is that of a professional and practicing architect with extensive hands on knowledge. I always feel like Anya has a worthwhile comment or tip to give me while I'm drawing! 

I would describe the instructions as simple and direct. I feel that my work is seen and acknowledged by Anya, which helps me get concentrated in my work.

I chose the classes because I can tell Anya knows a lot. I want to learn from her and feed off this knowledge. I think her teaching approach is based a lot on knowledge and understanding of drawing and perspective - and making an effort to communicate this as clearly as possible. 

I love the topics covered. My favourite is figure drawing to be honest - specially fast sketching and switching poses.

Biggest breakthrough or Aha! moment was in my first lesson when I realized how much more my drawing could improve by following the instructions from Anya. It helps me visualize the different skills of an artist and recognize where are my strengths and weaknesses.

What I value the most is the in-person interaction with the instructor and the length of the class. We can get a lot done in them but it's not too long that I get tired or bored. I always feel like I can keep drawing on my own after the class!

Ania is an amazing teacher, as a beginer, she can teach you solid art foundations and if you already have art knowledge, she can help you improve and bring your art to a next level

Perfect! Ania has a big task in front of her.

My experience so far after three sessions has been humbling, exhilarating, challenging and thought provoking, all in a positive way. Ania possesses the patience needed for a positive learning environment. Her direction is clear, her studio well set up and organized and it appears she has an instructional vision that may lead me to a place that I will be producing art at a more accomplished level. Each session has given me a new tool, a new eye, and new passion to follow this what i thought was a silly dream.

Ania already has my highest recommendation even in this short period of time.

When I started to realize my inner curiosity towards art, I met Ania and her art at the street gallery in Vancouver. I instantly fell in love her art. I started to attend her sketch club and tutorial sessions. 

She teaches basic techniques with patience. Teaching skills is so precise by full of knowledge and experience in her background. I always feel my progress every time when I implement her techniques!
