My quick en plein air sketch gave a unique business idea for the creative team-building activities!
There were lots of doubts when I set up my French easel at Capilano Lake View, North Vancouver and started to paint. I couldn’t imagine how much bigger this piece would become. What began as a small, shaky sketch grew into a large studio artwork — and eventually became my most popular beginner-friendly creative activity, where people who thought they “weren’t creative” ended up proudly holding their own mountain landscapes.
In the workshop, complete beginners — many who had never held a brush before — created their own versions of the mountains. The room buzzed with laughter, quiet focus, and those magical “I didn’t know I could do this” moments. Every team-building painting activity includes art-related games and stories from the artist's studio, allowing everyone to relax, enjoy the process, and leave with confidence, connection, and a sense of creativity.
The original painting is now on view at the Roundhouse Arts & Recreation Centre this weekend. You can see or buy this special piece for me.
